Drilling and analyses of three IP anomalies at the Arthurville project on EL7588, 30km south-east of Dubbo NSW, was completed. Geochemical assays reveal no gold or base-metal anomalism was encountered.
The programme of five reverse-circulation drill holes for 1,187 metres (Table 1), was designed to test for mineralisation and alteration associated with porphyry-style copper-gold deposits.
At target A118 a moderate intensity IP chargeabilityanomaly was targeted with two drill holes to 198m (AR14C003) and 191m (AR14RC004). Drilling intersected porphyritic basalt with minor disseminated pyrite, which is thought to account for the geophysical
response. No alteration related to porphyry systems was observed.
At site IP1 two distinct IP chargeability anomalies were targeted. The most intense of these was tested with two 300m-deep drill holes (AR14RC002 and AR14RC005) which intersected a range of lithologies, most commonly interlayered granodiorite and diorite.
In hole AR14RC002, a 34m thick zone of 1-2% disseminated pyrite with variable sericite alteration encountered appears to adequately explain the strong chargeability feature. No anomalous assays were recorded from this interval, however petrological analysis is being undertaken to help ascertain whether the observed alteration may be indicative of porphyry-related hydrothermal fluids.
A single 198m hole (A14RC001, Figure 1) drilled into a second, shallower IP chargeability anomaly at location IP1, intersected minor disseminated pyrite within generally unaltered diorite.
Further work at IP1 will depend on modelling of results of the petrological analysis and technical review with joint venture partners Mitsubish.
