The Awards

This year’s Precious Metal Awards Gala Dinner will present three awards. One for the mining industry and one for the bullion industry – Both sectors are key to the precious metals industry. The Hall of Fame is a new addition to this special industry night.

Many people in the precious metals industry knew long-time Kingsgate Consolidated Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Gavin Thomas, who sadly passed away in Sydney, Australia, at the age of 63. Gavin was a brilliant geologist and a passionate advocate of the mining industry. He was declared a mining legend by his peers in 2005.

In honour of Gavin’s life-long dedication to the industry, we are proud to announce that the Gavin Thomas Mining Award will once again be presented at the annual Precious Metals Awards dinner at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Sydney on Tuesday, 11th October 2016. The award recipient will be selected by a judging panel in association with Symposium.

The recipient will be a company or individual that shows not only dedication to the industry but one who creates a strong team ethic and carries with them a unique sense of being able to get the job done while still maintaining a great joie de vivre.

Affectionately known as ‘The Maggie’

This award will be given to an individual or company that shows initiative and exceptional customer service in the precious metals industry. Just like the lady, Cheryl Holt, whom the award was named after the recipient will be a company or individual that has shown quality of service, industry knowledge, and contribution to the community and good/consistent communication.

Lasy year we introduced a new esteemed award to the Awards Gala Dinner. Induction into The Gold Industry Hall of Fame honors an individual who has significantly contributed to the industry over many years.

This award will be given to an individual that has been an inspiration to the precious metals industry, they have the respect and admiration of their peers and have executed ongoing outstanding achievements in their career supportive to others.
